SMART City Planning - An excellent opportunity for research assistants by Samuchit

Priyadarshini Karve's musing blog yesterday spoke about conducting a study for a sustainably SMART Pune city. 

Since Samuchit Enviro Tech will lead this study, we are now looking for research associates who would take up library and field level research activities.

Here's a brief of the job role and responsibilities:

Key responsibilities (Italic ones are sole responsibilities, and non-italic ones are joint responsibilities with the project co-ordinator):
1.     Collect baseline data as well as identify data gaps for the selected parameters, through desk research, interviews of government officials, elected representatives, members of civil society organisations, etc. 
2.     Plan sample surveys or other methods for trying to bridge the data gaps.
3.     Recruiting and training interns, and co-ordinating data collection activities to bridge the data gaps.
4.     Refine the overarching goals related to the citizens’ quality of life, social equity of access and opportunities, and environmental sustainability of the city.
5.     Develop 2030 targets as well as 2020 and 2025 milestones for each of the selected parameters, in order to meet the overarching goals.
6.     Develop scenarios to achieve the milestones and targets in a realistic manner.
7.     Writing reports, articles, research papers, monograms, etc., in Marathi and English, on the study processes, data, and conclusions. 

8.     Presentations in city-level as well as state and national level workshops, conferences, forums, etc., on various aspects of the study, both in Marathi and English.
Duration of assignment is 1 year and start date is preferred as 1st October 2015.
